ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's basketball team raced to its fourth straight victory, scoring a season-high in points while defeating the University of the District of Columbia 101-66 in an East Coast Conference game on Wednesday night in the Voller Athletic Center.
Juniors
Collin Woods and
Khalik Gardner led five Redhawks in double figures with 16 points apiece. Woods also contributed a team-high six rebounds and four assists.
Keonjay Carter added 13 points and
Mohamed Soumahoro and
Jaden Lee both scored 11 for the Redhawks (7-14, 5-8 ECC), who shot 56.3% from the field in the game.
Roberts held a three-point lead early but broke the game open with a 27-8 run in the final 12:12 of the first half to to take a 49-27 lead at the break.
Soumahoro and Gardner both scored 11 points as the Redhawks made 58.6 percent (17 for 29) of their field goals in the first half.
Roberts stayed hot in the second half and built its lead to as many as 38 points. The Redhawks held a 48-7 advantage in bench points and had 22 assists on their 36 field goals.
The Redhawks travel to the College of Staten Island for an ECC game at 3 p.m. on Sunday.
