NORTH CANTON, OH – Sophomore Chase Wilson scored seven goals including two in the fourth quarter as the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Lacrosse team came back late to take a 10-9 lead with less than five minutes but Walsh University rallied to score three late goals to post a 12-10 victory Wednesday afternoon in the second game of the week in Ohio for the Redhawks.
After an even first quarter, Roberts (1-1) rallied with four consecutive goals by Wilson to take a 6-4 lead.
Walsh (1-3) scored late and the Redhawks led 6-5 at the halftime intermission.
In the third quarter, the Cavaliers scored three of the four goals in the period to regain the lead and held an 8-7 lead heading into the final quarter.
Walsh led off the quarter with a goal to extend the lead but Wilson answered with two more goals and junior Jett Richardson scored to give Roberts a 10-9 lead.
Walsh tied the game at 2:42 and then took a lead with a man-up tally 36 seconds later. The final goal came on an essentially empty net as Roberts tried to regain possession in the closing seconds of the game.
Sophomore Cody Coleman had a goal and two assists, junior Preston Steve added two assists and sophomore Colin Duncan recorded a goal and an assist.
The Redhawks are idle until February 27 when they travel to Vermont to face Saint Michael's College.
