HOUGHTON, NY – Several regular starters sat out Sunday but the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team still managed to pull off a pair of 3-0 victories in a non-conference double match at Houghton University.
Roberts (10-8) won the opener by set scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 25-19 and then posted a second 3-0 victory with set scores of 25-22, 25-9 and 25-20.
The 25-9 set win is the largest margin of victory in a set in school history. The Redhawks registered a pair of 25-10 set wins in 2024 with one against Houghton and the second against Dominican University.
In the first set, freshman Connor Latta led the offense with 12 kills and a .476 attack percentage and sophomore Andrew Howe handed out 33 assists and added seven digs. Senior Michael Cummings had a pair of aces and three blocks while junior Kaidan Krchniak recorded seven kills, three blocks and a team-leading 12 digs.
In the second match, Latta and sophomore Griffin Monrad has six kills each with Monrad connecting on a .714 attack percentage. Howe added 27 assists, Krchniak had three aces and sophomore Liam O'Keefe led the defense with eight digs.
Roberts will take a schedule break and play Long Island University – Brooklyn March 3rd and 4th in Brooklyn.
