DeJohn and Hoover Lead Men’s Volleyball Past LIU

BROOKLYN, NY – Sophomore Ryan DeJohn finished with 14 kills and freshman Jordan Hoover added 11 kills and three blocks for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team Tuesday night as the Redhawks posted a 3-1 win over Long Island University – Brooklyn in the first of two matches against the Sharks.

Roberts (10-8) won the opening set with a key run late in the set for a 25-22 win for the early lead. LIU (5-9) battled back for a 25-15 win in the second set to even the score but the Redhawks closed out the match with strong offense late in the sets for a pair of 25-23 wins and the 3-1 victory.

DeJohn finished with 14 kills and 10 digs while Hoover had 11 kills, an Attack Percentage of .500, five digs and three blocks.

Sophomore Landon Brouwer handed out 44 assists and recorded a team-bets 12 digs while senior Moises Jimenez had 10 digs.

Freshman Gavin Terp added eight kills and junior Paul Fillion added seven kills for the Redhawks.

The same two teams will face-off again at 1 p.m. Wednesday to complete the two-game series in Brooklyn.
