ROCHESTER, NY – The Roberts Wesleyan University athletic department did not have to look far for a new Men's Lacrosse head coach as lead assistant coach, and son of the former head coach, Rocky Delfino Jr. has been tabbed to take over the reins of the program.
Rocky Jr. takes over the position at the start of the 2026 season. The Redhawks open the season February 16 at Malone University in Ohio and the home opener for the team is scheduled for March 25 against East Coast Conference (ECC) foe Molloy University.
Delfino Sr., is stepping down from the day-to-day operations and duties as head coach but will remain active with the team and help in the transition.
"We are excited to have an easy transition for the men's lacrosse program wit the start of the season just around the corner," said Executive Director of Athletics Bob Segave. "Rocky Jr. was a player for his father here at Roberts and he has been on the coaching staff for the past four seasons."
After graduating from Roberts Wesleyan with a degree in Homeland Security and Applied Intelligence in May 2020, Delfino took an assistant coaching position at Pfeiffer University in North Carolina before returning to Roberts Wesleyan in 2021 as an assistant coach.
Additionally, he has experience as an assistant coach with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Rochester program from 2015-2018.
In the past four seasons, Roberts has posted 35 wins (35-24 .593) including a 15-9 record in ECC games and four consecutive trips to the ECC Tournament.
