Defense Shines as Men’s Volleyball Rebounds for Win

ORANGEBURG, NY – Senior Moises Jimenez recorded nine digs and led five players with at least six digs for the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Volleyball team as the Redhawks rebounded from Thursday's loss to win a 3-0 decision over Dominican University in an East Coast Conference (ECC) match Saturday afternoon.

Roberts (13-10 overall, 1-1 ECC) won in straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-23.

The win helped the Redhawks eclipse the season win total high of 12 set last season as Roberts finished 12-21 overall.

Jimenez had a team-leading nine digs while freshman Jayce Moore, sophomore Landon Brouwer and junior Paul Fillion recorded seven digs each and sophomore Ryan DeJohn added six digs for Roberts. The team recorded a total of 41 digs on the day.

The defense was also bolstered by 17 blocks as freshman Jordan Hoover led the team with five while Fillion and freshman Gavin Terp added four blocks each.

Hoover led the offense with 12 kills and a .450 attack percentage and DeJohn added 11 kills. Brouwer handed out 32 assists.

The Redhawks will host Dominican next Saturday in the first ECC home match of the season for Roberts with a 1 p.m. match in the Voller Athletic Center.
