Late Cipolla Goal Sparks Another Roberts Win

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior Sam Cipolla continued to show her scoring prowess for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team with the game-winning goal with just 1:26 left to play as the Redhawks scored a 1-0 win over Tiffin University Friday afternoon at Roberts Stadium.

Roberts (3-0-1) remained undefeated on the year and extended its unbeaten streak to 15 games.

The Redhawks held a decisive advantage on shots (19-6 for the game and 13-4 in the second half) and shots on goal (10-2) but didn't get a shot past the Tiffin (1-1-1) goalie until the final minutes of the contest.

Senior Nevaeh Bunch fed a ball from the midfield forward to Cipolla before the junior made a couple quick moves to create space and fired a long shot at the goal that deflected off the goalkeeper's hands and chest into the back of the net.

Cipolla has recorded a point in each of the first four games and has scored in three of the first four.

Senior Rebecca Hoffman made her second start in goal for Roberts and recorded her second shutout victory with two saves on the day.

The Redhawks return to action Sunday with a 1 p.m. home game against Lake Erie College at Roberts Stadium.
