ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Nevaeh Bunch scored in the 16th minute to give the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team an early lead and the Redhawks settled for a 1-1 tie Sunday afternoon against Lake Erie College at Roberts Stadium.
Early in the contest, junior Gracie Groome took control of a failed clearing attempt by Lake Erie (0-1-2) and sent a pass to the top of the 18-yard box and fellow junior Sam Cipolla redirected the ball a few feet away as Bunch moved in to fired a hard shot into the back of the net for the 1-0 Roberts (3-0-2) lead.
The Storm tied the game early in the second half on a corner kick that sailed just out of the reach of junior goalie Mia Tyndell.
The tie was the second of the season for the Redhawks as the team extended the current unbeaten streak to 16 games.
Roberts held a commanding 16-6 shots advantage and had twice as many shots on goal (8-4) in the game. Tyndell recorded three saves for the Redhawks.
The next game for Roberts Friday, September 11 at 4 p.m. against Saint Michael's College.
