COLONIA, NJ – In the first week of the season of the first season of East Coast Conference (ECC) Field Hockey competition, Roberts Wesleyan University came home with three of the weekly awards.

Juniors Makena Tooley and Mary Catherine Maloney were named the Player of the Week and the Defensive Player of the Week while sophomore Avery Carinci was named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll.

Tooley seemed to be all over the field Saturday in the first game of the season and capped the game with a goal on a penalty stroke in overtime as Roberts posted a 3-2 win over Maryville University.

Maloney was dominant on defense for and had more than 10 individual defensive stops in the defensive end of the field as well as a defensive save for the Redhawks.

Carinci assisted on both Redhawk goals in regulation play with each goal giving Roberts a lead in the game.

Roberts will play a pair of home games this week hosting Elmira College Wednesday and nationally ranked Pace University on Saturday.
