Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y (February 8, 2015) – Roberts Wesleyan stayed alive in the hunt for a spot in the East Coast Conference tournament by thwarting District of Columbia this afternoon, 78-60.
The Redhawks (9-10, 5-8 ECC) led from start to finish as senior forward netted a season-high 25 points.
Roberts Wesleyan was able to stifle the Firebirds (4-18, 4-10 ECC) as they visitors shot a palty 33.3 percent from the field and 25..0 percent from beyond the arc.
Redhawks Come Out SoaringRoberts Wesleyan, who were playing their only game of the week, shot out to a 22-3 lead over the first seven minutes with a balanced attack.
Medeiros led the way with eight points over that span, but 
Tyrel Dixon added seven points as 
Marcus Gooding chipped in five points. Sophomore forward 
Kevin Madiamba also got in on the action with two points to help the Redhawks set the tempo for the rest of the game.
Front Court DominationDixon, who tallied 15 points, along with 
Aleks Miljenovic, Madiamba, and Medeiros all combined for 26 of Roberts Wesleyan's 47 rebounds.
As a team, the Redhawks gave themselves plenty of second chances as they grabbed 18 offensive rebounds while giving UDC just nine offensive rebounds.
Roberts Wesleyan also scored a whopping 52 points in the paint compared to the Firebirds' 20points.
Playoff Hopes RemainThe win keeps Roberts Wesleyan's postseason hopes alive. They currently sit in seventh place in the conference standings as they top six teams advance to the ECC tournament in March.
NYIT resides in the sixth spot as the Bears, along with LIU Post, hold a one game lead over the Redhawks. However, both teams have the tie-breaker of Roberts Wesleyan. The Redhawks plays both of those teams on the road in the final weekend of the regular season.
Tough Road Trip Next WeekendThe Redhawks hit the road next weekend as they visit Bridgeport on Friday. The Purple Knights sit in second place in the conference standings.
The following day, the team will head to Dowling, who reside in fourth place after this weekend's games.
