Men's Tennis Falls to No. 13 NYIT in ECC Semifinals

The Redhawks' season came to an end after making a run to their first-ever ECC tournament

FLUSHING, N.Y. (April 24, 2015) – The Men's Tennis team ended their season with 5-0 loss to No. 13 NYIT in the ECC Championship semifinals this afternoon.

The Redhawks, who were making their first-ever appearance in the ECC tournament, finished the regular season with a 12-9 overall record and entered the tournament as the No. 4-seed. Roberts Wesleyan also ended the year ranked eighth in the NCAA Division II East Region rankings.

Charles Farres and Robert Beer fell at first singles as the Bears' Julio Pulido and Tomas Leib won 8-3. Beer also lost in singles with a 6-4, 6-1 result against Matej Selecky. Farres was battling Pulido at first singles 6-3, 5-4 before the match ended unfinished.

At sixth singles, Guilherme Plentz de Liz was leading 6-2, 3-3 against NYIT's Nico Jubera before that match was also cut short.

NYIT, the top-seed, will face the winner of the No. 2 Queens/No. 3 Dist. Columbia match in the final tomorrow at noon.
