The Roberts Wesleyan men's tennis team claimed two victories over the weekend, winning at Saint Anselm and Franklin Pierce.
The Redhawks defeated Saint Anselm 6-3 on Saturday morning. Freshman duo
Paul Langbroek and
Mathew Cruz won at second doubles 8-3 while
Jose Carrillo and
Dustin Eshleman won third doubles 8-4. Both Langbroek and Carrillo also went on to win their singles matches.
"This was a good match for us to start the season with," head coach
Tom Linhart said. "Saint Anselm is very well coached and is very scrappy. They gave us all we could handle ."
On Sunday, Roberts Wesleyan (2-0) defeated Franklin Pierce University in a close match 5-4. Carrillo and Eshleman led the Redhawks winning third doubles, 8-2, and both went on to win in fifth and sixth singles to clinch the win.
Freshman
Dennis Barlotta and Langbroek also won in singles, making it their second consecutive singles win to begin their collegiate careers.
The men's tennis team will continue play on Friday, September 10
th when they travel to a matchup against Kutztown University.
