UTICA, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's and women's swim teams competed in the program's first ever dual meet against Utica College and Wells College on Saturday afternoon. The women's squad split in the double dual meet, defeating Wells College 130-97 but falling to Utica, 186-60. The men lost to both opposing teams with a 167-35 result against Utica and 130-57 final against Wells.
The women's team was led by freshman
Jesse Gunn who became the first swim team athlete to win an individual event with a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle, posting a time of 6:10:45. Her time was 11 seconds faster than the second place finisher. Gunn also had a second place showing in the 1,000 yard freestyle race with a time of 12:41.75.
Freshman
Camryn Perry placed second in the 100 yard backstroke. Her time of 1:13.44 was seven second behind the leader.
On the men's side, Junior
Joshua Moore took a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle event with a time of 2:32.91. Senior
David Uhlman took second in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:20. 32.
The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Moore, Uhlman,
Ryan Hardy and
David Uhlman placed third in the relay with a time of 1:59.48.
Roberts will head to Cazenovia on Saturday, November 18
th for a dual meet against Cazenovia College at 1 p.m.
