Men's Tennis Falls to West Virginia Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y. - The Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan College spoiled the spring opener for the Roberts men's tennis team, defeating the Redhawks 9-0 in a match played at Midtown Athletic Club.

"They took us out of our rhythm early and never let is back in the match," said head coach Tom Linhart Sr.

The Bobcats are a perennial power in the Atlantic Region and went to the NCAA Regional tournament the last few years.

Roberts managed to make the match competitive at second doubles, where freshmen Dennis Barlotta and Paul Langbroek lost in a tiebreak to fellow freshmen Lukas Laipold and Pierre Bedard by the score of 9-8(3).

Junior Hugo Ball-Greene lost a hard fought match to senior Nathan Sabete 6-2, 6-4 at first singles. Barlotta also lost a competitive match to junior Ramon Rodriguea at third singles, 6-4, 6-2.

The Redhawks, currently 8-2 on the season, look to return to their winning ways when they play Salem International University on September 11th in Elmira, NY.
