The Roberts Wesleyan men's tennis team lost a very competitive match at Bentley University on Saturday by a 6-3 score. 
 
The Redhawks got on the board first when freshman 
Paul Langbroek and junior 
Jose Carrillo won 8-3 at third doubles over Nick Harcher and Kendall Au. Bentley tied the match after winning a tight 9-7 match at first doubles. Mike Fula and Brett Gilman then nipped 
Dustin Eshleman and Gui Plentz de Liz, 8-6 at third doubles to take the lead.
 
The match got interesting in singles when junior 
Hugo Ball-Greene defeated Brendan McCarthy at first singles 3-6, 6-0, 6-1.  Freshman 
Dennis Barlotta followed with a 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 win over Mike Fula to give the Redhawks the lead.  Bentley tied the score at second singles when Langbroek lost a close match 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 to George Samander. Bentley then took charge and swept the remaining three singles matches in straight set victories.
 
"We competed well against a quality, regional power, but we need to develop our depth to stay competitive," head coach 
Tom Linhart Sr. said.
 
Ball-Greene's win over McCarthy solidified his position as the No.8 ranked singles player in the East Region. 
 
On Sunday, the men's tennis team fell 6-3 to East Region No.5 Merrimack College in a match played in Franklin, Mass.  Junior 
Jose Carrillo was the only double winner for the Redhawks.  Carrillo and freshman 
Paul Langbroek defeated Alex Slobin and James Hook at third doubles, 8-5. Later in singles play, Carrillo defeated Slobin 6-3, 6-2 at fifth singles.
 
Hugo Ball-Greene won at first singles for the Redhawks, defeating Mikhail Belov 6-7(4), 6-0, 6-2.  Ball-Greene currently has a 15-3 record at first singles.
 
The 11-7 Redhawks return to action Wednesday with a match at Hobart College before opening East Coast Conference play on Friday at NYIT.
