Men's Tennis Toppled by Post University

Rochester, N.Y. – In a battle between two regionally ranked teams, No. 7 Post University defeated the No. 10 Roberts Wesleyan Redhawks, 7-2 at the Midtown Athletic Club.

The Eagles came out strong and captured all three doubles matches.  Juniors Hugo Ball Greene and Jose Carrillo lost a closely contested match at No. 1 doubles 8-6 to Nikila Crvelin and Ludwid Henrikson. Second and third doubles lost by identical 8-4 scores.

In singles play, Ball-Greene won at No. 1 singles over Crvelin 6-1, 6-3 to put Roberts on the scoreboard.

Freshman Paul Langbroek followed with a 7-6(7), 6-2 win over Ivan Rajevac to close the gap.  The Redhawks could not get any closer than that as Post won the other singles matches in straight sets.

"Post is a talented and well coached team and we competed well against them," Head Coach Tom Linhart Sr. said. "We have the skills to compete with the best in the region, but we need to work on our tennis maturity and point construction."

The 9-4 Redhawks return to action Wednesday in a non-conference match at Houghton College and then leave for weekend matches in New Jersey against East Region opponents Bloomfield University and Caldwell University.
