WASHINGTON, D.C. - Freshman
Paul Langbroek remained undefeated in East Coast Conference play in both singles and doubles, but it wasn't enough as the Roberts Wesleyan men's tennis team fell to No. 6 University of the District of Columbia, 7-2.
The first year player from Austria partnered with junior
Jose Carrillo to win 9-8(5) at third doubles over UDC's Marco Feligioni and Josip Marinic. Langbroek then went on to defeat Diego Pinto 6-3, 6-2 at second doubles.
Unfortunately that was all the scoring the Redhawks could muster in the loss. "We played excellent doubles losing a 9-8 match at first doubles and 8-6 at second doubles while taking third doubles," head coach
Tom Linhart Sr. said. "In singles it was a different story as we committed too many unforced errors. Our effort was good, execution lacked."
The Redhawks are now 11-10 overall and 0-2 in ECC play.
