ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan men's tennis team rallied to defeat the University of Rochester, 5-4 on Thursday evening. Senior
Hugo Ball-Greene and freshman
Guido Janssen were double winners, while freshman
Harmeet Luthra won the deciding point for the Redhawks.

Rochester opened the scoring when Maseru Fujimaki and Peter Huang defeated
Dustin Eshleman and Matthew Cruz 8-3 at second doubles. The Redhawks answered back when Janssen and senior
Jose Carrillo won 8-6 at third doubles. That was followed by an 8-5 win by Ball-Greene and sophomore
Dennis Barlotta at first doubles.

The Redhawks extended their lead when Janssen defeated Huang 6-2, 6-1 at fourth singles. Leading 3-1, the Redhawks saw Rochester tie the match with victories at second singles and sixth singles. Ball-Greene at first singles gave the lead back to the Redhawks with a 4-6, 6-2, 10-3 win at first singles.Â
This set the stage for Luthra's match deciding win, a 7-5, 7-5 win at fifth singles over Yifan Shen. Rochester closed out the scoring with Jun Yuminaga defeating junior
Andrew Freeman in a tough two setter,6-4, 7-6(3).

"This was a well played, hard fought and very entertaining college tennis match," said head coach
Tom Linhart. "I was very pleased at our team focus, and aggressive play against a very competitive and well coached UR squad. I was especially impressed with the maturity shown by our two freshman, Harmeet and Guido, and our junior transfer
Andrew Freeman. They played with poise and maturity in a very stressful situation."

The Redhawks are off until October 6-8 when they travel to Olean, N.Y. to play in the St. Bonaventure University Fall Classic.
