ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Senior Dylan Ruiz, the all-time leading goal scorer in Roberts Wesleyan College men's soccer history has been voted the East Coast Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight year.

Ruiz, who has 50 career goals, scored 17 goals and registered six assists for the Redhawks last fall. He scored three goals against Lancaster Bible College on Nov. 17 to break the goal-scoring record set by Jaime Rivera.

"I am expecting Dylan to have another big year," Roberts coach Scott Reber said. "He has been and is going to be on everyone's scouting report, but he continues to find ways to produce and make good things happen for us."

The Redhawks, who went 4-2-3 in the ECC and 8-7-3 overall last fall, received 45 points and finished fifth in the ECC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Molloy and Saint Thomas Aquinas each received 70 points and tied for first in the poll. Molloy received five first-place votes and Saint Thomas Aquinas garnered two.

Mercy also received two first-place votes and finished with 65 points. The University of the District of Columbia ranked fourth with 55 points, followed by Roberts (45), Queens (37), Staten Island (26), Daemen (25) and D'Youville (12).

Orlando Zambrano of Molloy was named the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

Roberts opens its season on August 25 at home at 4 p.m. against the University of Findlay.
