GENEVA, NY – Junior Joane Arzalluz Garzon took first place in the 200 breaststroke and helped the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Swimming and Diving team to a top finish in the 400 free relay as the Redhawks raced to eight first-place finishes in a dual meet at William Smith Saturday.
The Herons won the overall team score 161-138.
Arzalluz started the day with a second-place finish in the 1000 freestyle with her time of 11:53.47 and then later swam to a first-place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:41.07 and then teamed with senior Mya Webb, freshman Cara Pillittieri and freshman Ruby Flanigen to place first in the final event of the meet with a time of 3:54.86 in the 400 freestyle relay.
Webb added first-place finishes in the 200 free (2:02.81), the 100 free (57.56) and the 200 butterfly (2:22.87) for Roberts. Flanigen was the top finisher in the 100 breaststroke and Pillittieri was first in the 50 free with a time of 26.44 as she finished more than a second ahead of the second-place swimmer.
Roberts swept the top three places in the 1-meter diving as junior Emma Dicob won the event with a score of 226.25 while sophomore Sidney Simmons (218.85) and freshman Ashley Oswald (194.10) placed second and third respectively.
Dicob also won the 3-meter event with a 225.85 score and Simmons was second with her score of 194.10.
Roberts will compete November 2 against LeMoyne in the Voller Athletic Center.
