Odell and King Win Events at Brockport Rust Buster

BROCKPORT, NY – Graduate student Kylee Odell won the Mile and fellow graduate student Brynn King posted another win in the Pole Vault to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Track and Field team at the first official competition of the second semester in the SUNY Brockport Rust Buster event Friday.

Odell had the top time in the Mile with a 5:17.85 as she led a trio of top finishers from Roberts in the race. Junior Rachel Horner-Richardson (5:18.46) was second and fellow junior Lydia Roselund (5:19.87) was third in the race.

A similar Redhawks strong finish happened in the Pole Vault as King won clearing the 4.30 meter (14' 1 ¼") bar to place first. Sophomore Sarah Ferguson was second after clearing five consecutive bars on her first attempt at each before finishing with a final height of 4.10 meters (13' 5 ¼"). Freshman Karis Kraf was third at 3.80 meters (12' 5 ½") and fellow freshman Alexandrea Robertson was fourth with her height of 3.70 meters (12' 1 ½").

Roberts had a 2-3 finish in the 60-meter dash as freshman Aaliyah McCoy (8.232) and fellow freshman Alanna Daniel (8.238) had a photo finish for second place. Daniel added a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter race.

Sophomore Jadyn Mullen ran second in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:19.50.

In the field events, freshman Madelyn Rutledge finished third in the triple jump (10.73 meters/35' 2 ½") and fourth in the long jump (5.26 meters/17' 3 ¾"). Freshman Kaylea Wagner was fourth in the weight throw with a heave of 13.78 meters (45' 2 ½") and graduate student Moriah Mills was sixth in the shot put with her toss of 11.32 meters (37 1 ¾").

The Redhawks are scheduled to compete at the RIT Friday Night Meet and the Midwest Open at the Spire Institute in Ohio Saturday.
