Webb and Rugaber Shine on Senior Day for Swimming and Diving

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Mya Webb won three events and fellow senior William Rugaber posted victories in both diving events to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams in the final home meet of the season against SUNY Oswego Saturday in the Voller Athletic Center.

The two seniors were joined by Logan Childers and Ronald Pasieka in pre-meet ceremonies to honor the careers of the seniors for the Redhawks.

Oswego won the men's competition 178-113 and also won the women's team score 171-122.

Webb won the 200 freestyle in a pool-record time of 1:59.14, the 500 freestyle in 5:28.94 and was also the top swimmer in the 100 butterfly in 1:01.93.

Rugaber won the 1-meter diving with a 271.60 score and also posted the top mark on the 3-meter board with a final score of 258.50.

For the Roberts women, the divers took the top three places in both events as junior Emma Dicob posted two wins with scores of 268.50 and 266.00 in the 1-meter and 3-meter events respectively. Sophomore Sidney Simmons was second in both with a 254.55 in 1-meter and a 238.50 on the 3-meter board. Freshman Ashley Oswald was third in both with scores of 216.60 (1-meter) and 206.20 (3-meter).

Sophomore Joane Azalluz Garzon won the 200 breaststroke with a pool record and her winning time of 2:39.77.

Freshman Cara Pillittieri was second in the 100 IM race with a school-record time of 1:07.99 and took third in both the 50 free and 1000 free with times of 26.53 and 11:50.68.

For the Roberts Men, freshman Antonie Pieterse won the 200 freestyle with a school record and pool record in 1:43,19 and the 100 butterfly in 49.97. He also teamed with freshman Ethan Springle, junior Tommy Booth and junior Andon Fedor for a top finish in the 200 Medley Relay in a pool-record time of 1:39.11.

Booth added second-place finishes in the 100 and 200 breaststroke races with times of 1:01.76 and 2:23.19 respectively. Freshman Tanner Pinto-Cohn won both distance races with a first in the 1000 free in 10:43.66 and the top time of 5:11.60 in the 500 free.

Roberts will be back in action February 1 at Monroe Community College in a tri-meet with Nazareth University.
