Another Weekly Awards Sweep for Roberts Bowling

COLONIA, NJ – The Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Bowling team captured fourth place at last week's Pat Lacey Memorial Tournament in Pennsylvania and four members of the team were honored this week with East Coast Conference (ECC) Weekly Awards.

Junior Abigail Barnard was named the ECC Bowler of the Week and freshman Michelle Cummings won her second ECC Rookie of the Week award while senior Amelia Ponto and junior Rebecca Spry earned spots on the ECC Weekly Honor Roll.

Barnard delivered a standout performance at the Br. Pat Lacey Memorial Tournament, finishing 6th overall in a highly competitive field. Abigail posted game scores of 177, 189, 203, 160, and 165 for a total of 894 pins over five games, averaging an impressive 178.80. Barnard led the Redhawks in strike percentage (32%) and maintained a strong overall fill rate of 78%. Her consistency and ability to convert spares (74.2% makeable spare conversion, 81.3% single pin) were instrumental in helping the team secure a 4th place finish.

Cummings provided a crucial spark for Roberts with a 170.67 average with a high game of 186. Cummings posted a 17.07 average per frame with a 76.7% fill rate, pairing a 30.0% strike rate (9 strikes) with strong spare shooting: 66.7% overall spare conversion, 70.0% on makeable spares, and a perfect 100% single‑pin conversion.

Spry demonstrated exceptional skill and consistency and finishing 13th overall with a total of 848 pins and a 169.60 average across five games (177, 172, 172, 160, 167). Spry led the team in fill percentage (82%) and spare conversion (77.5%), including an outstanding 83.3% makeable spare rate and 87.5% single pin conversion.

Ponto finished 16th overall with a five-game total of 837 pins and an average of 167.40. Her scores of 172, 171, 177, 145, and 172 showcased her consistency and competitive edge. She posted a 74% fill rate and converted 71.9% of makeable spares, with an impressive 83.3% single pin spare conversion. 

Roberts will compete next weekend at the Hilbert College Hammer Classic November 22 and 23 in Western New York.
