GREENVILLE, SC – Sophomores Mia Tyndell and Mackenzie Hagen from the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team headlined a group of four players that were honored Thursday with selection to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-American Team.
Both Tyndell and Hagen were selected to the First Team All-American squad while seniors Cami Brescia and Kara Choate were selected as Second Team All-American honorees.
In addition, Head Coach Bobby McColl, in his first season since returning to Roberts, was named the National Coach of the Year.
The Redhawks finished with an impressive 11-3-5 record and the East Coast Conference (ECC) Tournament Championship. The team advanced to the NCAA Tournament and finished the season with an 11-game unbeaten streak (7-0-4).
Tyndell started every game in goal for the Redhawks and finished with a miniscule 0.94 goals against average (16 goals allowed in 17 games) and a 0.835 saves percentage. Hagen led the offense with 18 points on seven goals and four assists). Brescia recorded 11 points on two goals and a team-high seven assists from her defender position and Choate had five goals and three assists for 13 points on the season.
McColl took a team that finished 5-10-1 a year ago and transformed them into a championship team that won the ECC Championship for the first time in school history.
