ROCHESTER, NY – A majority of the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Track and Field team started the 2025-26 season at the Nazareth Alumni Invitational while others competed at the Liberty University meet in Virginia and the Youngstown State Ice Breaker event in Ohio.
In Lynchburg, Virginia, sophomore Diego Arellano Jasso took seventh overall in the Heptathlon as he established new PR marks in four of the six events and finished with a total score of 4,429. He set PRs in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.61 and the shot put with a toss of 10.36 meters Thursday night and then added PR marks in the 60-meter hurdles with his time of 8.93 seconds and the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:57.83.
At Youngstown University, the Roberts pole vaulters competed and freshman Noah Leathersich was the top Redhawks finisher in seventh place as he cleared the 4.75 meter (15' 7") bar before missing his three attempts at the 16' ¾" bar. Sophomore Terron Metz had his first meet as a member of the Redhawks and placed ninth as he cleared the 4.60 (15' 1") bar.
The distance runners also ran at Youngstown with sophomore Jakob Zibbel leading the way with his 13th place finish in the 5K race with a time of 15:22.22. Fellow sophomore Boston Dues was the top Roberts finisher in the mile in 27th position with a time of 4:42.15. In the 3K race, senior Jackson Doran finished second with a time of 8:45.61 and sophomore Trevor Heitkamp was fourth with an indoor PR of 8:52.40.
In the Nazareth Invitational, sophomore Thomas Acosta and freshman Luke Martinez led the way in the pole vault finishing third and fifth respectively. Both vaulters cleared the 4.60-meter (15' 1") bar with Acosta accumulating fewer misses along the way.
Sophomore Calvin Lill took fourth in the high jump as he cleared 1.88 meters (6' 2") bar and junior Russell Mulley raced to a fifth-place finish in the 3K with a time of 9:56.33.
Sophomore Owen Callahan was seventh in the weight throw and 10th in the shot put with a PR of 15.76 meters (51' 8 ½") in the weight throw which ranks second on the all-time Roberts list and is ranked No. 4 in the East region.
Freshman
Roman Smith was seventh in the mile with a time of 4:47.75 and fellow freshman
Josiah Rodriguez took eighth place in the 1000 meter run with his time of 2:52.70.
