Women’s Track and Field Wins the ECC Championship

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Graduate student Kylee Odell won two events, junior Rachel Horner-Richardson won the 5K and sophomore Sarah Ferguson won the pole vault to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Track and Field team to a team championship at the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships Sunday night at the Ocean Breeze Complex.

Roberts won the team title with 120 points and beat Felician (112 points) and the University of the District of Columbia (100) for the top three spots. Holy Family (71) was fourth followed by D'Youville (41), Staten Island (27), Molloy (21), St. Thomas Aquinas (20), Queens (18), Daemen (18) and Georgian Court (10).

Odell had an outstanding night with wins in the mile with a time of 5:22.33 and the 1000 meters with a time of 3:02.31. Horner-Richardson was the top finisher in the 5K with her time of 18:31.14 as junior Lydia Roselund placed second in 18:49.98.

Ferguson was the top finisher in the pole vault as Roberts took the top six spots in the final standings. Ferguson won with her mark of 3.93 meters (12' 10 ¾") while freshmen Karis Kraf, Alexandrea Robertson and Sarah Ouelette placed second, third and fourth with the same 3.63-meter (11' 11") height. Sophomore Cora Seaburg and freshman Molly Winger tied for fifth place at 3.03 meters (9' 11 ¼").

Sophomore Jadyn Mullen earned points in four events with a second-place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:21.88. She was third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.18 seconds) and sixth in both the long jump (5.34 meters/17' 6 ¼") and the high jump (1.55 meters/5' 1").

Additional top finishers for the Redhawks included the Distance Medley relay that placed third with freshman Evelyn Schmit, freshman Alanna Daniel, freshman Zoe Maupin and freshman Paige Reeser as the relay clocked a time of 12:59.66.

Schmit was third in the 3K race, Reeser was fourth in the 1000, freshman Kaylea Wagner was fourth in the weight throw and seventh in the shot put and freshman Madelyn Rutledge was fifth in the triple jump.
