BROCKPORT, NY – The annual Brockport Multi and Invitational got underway Friday afternoon and sophomore Jadyn Mullen improved her school record in the Pentathlon while freshman Austin Melvin increased his school record in the Pole Vault to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams.
Mullen won four of the five individual events to post a school-record score of 3,421. She recorded a pair of personal best results in the 60-meter hurdles with a winning time of 9.34 seconds and a leap of 5.34 meters (17' 6 ¼") in the Long Jump.
Mullen equaled her personal best in the high jump as she cleared 1.56 meters (5' 1 ¼") to win the event before closing out the overall win and school record with a time of 2:26.91 to win the 800-meter race. She was second in the shot put with a mark of 9.64 meters (31' 7 ½").
Melvin lad a solid Roberts Wesleyan finish in the men's Pole Vault in the lone individual event competed Friday night.
Melvin cleared 5.09 meters (16' 8 ¼") to win the event while sophomore
Braden Shaw placed second with a 4.75 meter (15' 7") mark. Sophomore
Jack Sauder was third with his height of 4.75 meters) while freshmen
Therron Percival (4.45 meters/14' 7 1/4"),
Chase McFadden (4.45 meters) and sophomore
Cyrus Comfort (4.30 meters/14' 1 1/4") placed sixth, seventh and eighth respectively for the Redhawks. All six vaulters hit or tied personal best marks at the meet.
