ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Jadyn Mullen and freshman Aaliyah McCoy each won a pair of events as the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Track and Filed team won a total of seven events at the season-opening Redhawks Invitational Outdoor Track and Field meet at Roberts Stadium.
Mullen posted wins in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.56 and then clocked a 2:20.96 to win the 800-meter race. McCoy won the sprints as the top finisher in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.08 and later posted a win in the 200-meters with her winning time of 27.69.
Additional winners included junior Rachel Horner-Richardson who kicked off the running events with the top time in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:09.49, graduate student Kylee Odell won the 3K race with a time of 10:20.11 and fellow graduate student Brynn King won the pole vault with an impressive 4.67-meter (15' 3 ¾") effort. The mark is the second highest mark ever in Division II and second only to King's school-record effort of 15' 4 ¼" last year.
Freshman Alanna Daniel was second in the 100 and third in the 200 and senior Acacia Barber was second in the 800 behind Mullen.
Odell led a group of Redhawks in the 3K as freshman Paige Reeser was second, freshman Evelyn Schmit was third and Horner-Richardson was fourth for Roberts.
Sophomore Sarah Ferguson was second in the pole vault with her mark of 4.12 meters (13' 6 ¼") while freshmen Karis Kraf and Alexandrea Robertson tied for third as each cleared 3.82 meters (12' 6 ¼").
Junior Cristina Gonzalez-Simarro Rubio was third in the Javelin with a throw of 24.21 meters (79' 5") and freshman Kaylea Wagner was fifth in the discus (28.42 meters/93' 3") and fourth in the shot put (9.69 meters/31' 9 ½").
The Redhawks compete a week from Saturday at the Bill Quinlisk Invitational at RIT.
