BOSTON, MA – Graduate students Kylee Odell and Owen White each broke school records Sunday as a select number of student-athletes from the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed at the Last Chance meet in Boston.
Odell set the school record in the 1000-meter run as she clocked a 2:57.13 to finish second overall in the race. The old record of 2:57.34 was set back in 2012 by Kendra Zaffuto.
White took down the school record in the 3K race as he shaved more than six seconds off his personal best time and beat the school record by two seconds with his time of 8:16.24. The old record was set by Lee Sortore in 2023.
Odell posted another sub-five-minute time in the mile as she placed fourth overall with her time of 4:59.45. Three other Redhawks posted personal best times in the mile as junior Rachel Horner-Richardson rans a 5:15.31, freshman Evelyn Schmit ran a 5:20.90 and freshman Paige Reeser clocked a time of 5:22.46.
Richardson also placed 11th in the 3K open race as she shaved nearly 13 seconds off her personal best time with a 10:20.51.
In the mile race for the men, a pair of runners posted personal best times as senior Landon Schreib ran a 4:22.44 and fellow senior Zachary Hall had his career-best time with a 4:22.56. Freshman Trevor Heitkamp had a time of 4:27.19 in the race.
In the mile invitational race, senior Jackson Doran posted a solid time of 4:13.95.
The final list of NCAA Championship qualifiers will be announced this week for competition in Indianapolis that begins March 14.
