Mullen Breaks Roberts Record at the Rochester Multi Meet

ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore Jadyn Mullen capped the Heptathlon event at the University of Rochester Spring Twilight meet with a school record breaking performance for the Roberts Wesleyan University Track and Field teams Tuesday afternoon.

Mullen was first with a record-breaking score of 4,680.

Freshman Diego Arellano Jasso finished third overall in the Decathlon with 5,688 points. The score ranks fourth on the all-time Roberts Top-Five list.

Mullen broke the school record in the Heptathlon with her winning score of 4,680 points. Mullen won five of the seven events including a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles. She clocked a 15.31 to win the hurdles, cleared 1.55 meters (5' 1") to tie for first in the high jump, ran a 26.81 to win the 200-meter race, threw a 29.82 meters (97' 10") to win the javelin and raced to a winning time of 2:29.72 in the 800 to cap the event and put her point total over the school record.

The old record was set in 2017 by Kristina Button with 4,222 points. The total is also the top mark in the East Region so far this season by more than 500 points.

After the first day of competition Monday that saw Arellano Jasso in the middle of the pack, the freshman rallied to win the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.49 seconds and win the discus throw with a toss of 26.66 meters (100' 7") to surge into second place with three events remaining. He finished third in each of the final three events – the pole vault, javelin and 1500-meter run.

On Monday at the meet, freshmen Alexandrea Robertson and Karis Kraf tied for first place in the pole vault as each cleared the 3.62-meter (11' 10 ½") bar.
