MIDLOTHIAN, VA – Freshman Skye Mickelthwaite raced to a 30th place finish to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Triathlon team to an eighth-place finish overall and a third-place ranking among Division II teams Sunday at the Robius Landing Triathlon in Virginia.
Roberts placed eighth overall with 133 points and landed in third place in the field of NCAA Division II teams in the race. Wingate University (336 points) was the top overall team and top Division II team and Lenoir-Rhyne University (301) was second among Division II teams.
Mickelthwaite had the top time for the Redhawks was she finished the course in 1:03:54.83. Senior Joane Arzalluz-Garzon was second for Roberts and placed 40th with her final time of 1:08:34.61 and sophomore Jenna Maendel placed 52nd overall in 1:14:28.77 while fellow sophomore Paige Kern rounded out the scoring for Roberts with a 56th-place finish and a time of 1:19:20.32.
The Redhawks have a pair of events next weekend in Illinois with the Millikin Splash and Dash Duathlon Friday and the Prairie Cup Triathlon Saturday.
