BROCKPORT, NY – Junior Jadyn Mullen had a banner day for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Track and Field team Saturday with a pair of school-records and four first place finishes as the team opened the second semester at the Brockport Rust Buster Meet at the Special Events and Recreation Center in Brockport.
Mullen started the meet with a win in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.45 seconds and later clocked the second fastest time in school history in the 500-meter race with a time of 1:19.59. She moved to the field events where she added two more wins with school-record efforts in the long jump with a winning leap of 5.58 meters (18' 3 ¾") and the high jump with a height of 1.74 meters (5' 8 ½"). The long jump record was set back in 2004 by Shanelle Balfour (18' 1 ¾"). The high jump record was set by Jenn Stucynski (Suhr) in 2005 and tied by Mullen last year at 5' 5".
The Roberts pole vaulters dominated the meet with each of the top six places in the final standings. Sophomore Karis Kraf led the way with a height of 3.92 meters (12' 10 ¼") followed by freshman Kennedy Benjamins (3.62 meters (11' 10 ½")), freshman Natalie Murray (3.62 meters), junior Melia Couchman (3.47 meters (11' 4 ½")), sophomore Sarah Ouelette (3.47 meters) and sophomore Molly Winger (3.32 meters (10' 10 ¾").
Senior Rachel Horner-Richardson was a winner for the Redhawks in the 3K race with a time of 10:40.19 and sophomore Paige Reeser was close behind in third place with her time of 10:49.23. Freshman Solki Martin-Lacayo won the 800 meters with a time of 2:24.80.
In the Mile run, Roberts had four finishers in the top five led by sophomore Evelyn Schmit in second with a time of 5:27.58. Senior Lydia Roselund was third (5:28.22), freshman Michaela Goettel was fourth (5:28.84) and freshman Lydia Demarest was fifth (5:29.59).
The relay of Martin-Lacayo, freshman Emma Lipa, Demarest and Goettel placed second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:20.83.
Sophomore Aaliyah McCoy was third in the 60-meter dash and freshman Ava Wierda was third in the weight throw for the Redhawks.
Next up for Roberts is the RIT Friday Night Meet January 23.
