PISCATAWAY, NJ – Sophomore Cara Pillittieri, senior Joane Arzalluz-Garzon and freshman Teagan Lewis recorded third-place finishes in individual events Friday for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Swimming and Diving team on the first day of competition at the Metropolitan Collegiate Championships hosted by Rutgers University in New Jersey.
Roberts sits sixth in the very close team scoring with 202 points. Gordon College (289 points) is first followed by Hunter College (270), Baruch College (254), Mount St. Mary College (240), Sarah Lawrence College (230) and Roberts. Brooklyn College, John Jay College and SUNY Maritime round out the team standings.
Pillittieri was third in the 500 freestyle as she clocked a time of 5:26.65 and freshman Skye Micklethwaite was fourth in the race with her time of 5:28.42.
Arzalluz-Garzon was third in the 200 IM with a time of 2:21.01 and sophomore Paige Kern was eighth in the race with a time of 2:32.34.
Lewis was third in the 50 freestyle as she finished in 25.41 for Roberts.
The 400 Medley Relay with Kern, junior Leanne Dolph, junior Juliana French and junior Jordan Vanderhoof placed seventh with a time of 4:49.51.
Competition continues Saturday and concludes Sunday in New Jersey.
