COLONIA, NJ – The Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Track and Field came home from the Youngstown Mid-Major Invitational last weekend with a pair of individual titles and both graduate student Jackson Doran and sophomore Austin Melvin earned East Coast Conference (ECC) Weekly Honor Roll awards.
Melvin won another meet over the weekend as he placed first in the pole vault at the Youngstown Mid-Major Invitational with a height of 5.21 meters (17' 1"). He passed to the 4.71 meter bar and cleared his first four heights before a miss and then a make at the 5.21 height. He is currently ranked No. 3 in the national and is one of just seven vaulters to clear the 17-foot mark this season.
Doran clocked a time just six seconds off his school-record time to win the mile race at the Youngstown Mid-Major Invitational over the weekend. His time of 4:12.16 was the top time out of 14 runners as he out kicked three other runners to win by 0.11 seconds at the line. The top four runners finished in a span of one second. He was also 14th in a field of 78 runners in the 3K race with a time of 8:46.92. He currently ranks No. 1 in the Mile and No. 2 in the 3K in the ECC.
The Roberts Wesleyan Track and Field teams will compete in Utica this weekend in the final tune-up for the ECC Championships set for February 15.
