Graduate student Jackson Doran broke his own school record in the 1500-meter race at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University Saturday and sophomore Jordan Bryner vaulted to a first-place finish at the Brockport Multi and Invitational meet Sunday to leads the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Track and Field team over the weekend.
Doran led a trio of top finishers at Bucknell in the 1500 race as he raced to a school-record time of 3:44.09. Sophomores Jakob Zibbel (4:02.91) and Charles Matzke(4:03.30) clocked personal best times in the race.
Fellow sophomore Trevor Heitkamp also finished in personal best time with a 14:40.59 in the 5K race late Saturday night.
On Sunday, Bryner led the Redhawks to a strong finish at the Brockport meet. He won the pole vault with a height of 4.95 meters (16' 2 ¾"). He was joined by freshman Noah Leathersich (4.65 meters/2nd place), freshman Luke Martinez (4.50 meters/5th place) and sophomore Thomas Acosta (4.50 meters/8th place) with top-10 finishes in the event.
Other top finishers included sophomore Calvin Lill who was third in the High Jump with his mark of 1.83 meters (6' 0"), senior Ethan LaClair with a third-place finish in the Javelin with a toss of 45.14 meters (148' 1") and sophomore Owen Callahan who placed fifth in the Hammer Throw with a personal best throw of 50.28 meters (164' 11").
In addition, senior Micah Cornfield was sixth in the 400 with a time of 50.88, freshman Joel Amstutz (4:10.28) and sophomore Aiden McDonald (4:10.69) placed eighth and ninth respectively with personal best times. Freshman William Miller was eighth in the Discus with a toss of 39.21 meters (128' 7").
