Successful Weekend at the VAC

The Raiders had a productive weekend defeating Wilberforce University on Friday evening and Mt. Vernon Nazarene on Saturday afternoon. The victories made it four out of their last five games for Roberts as they continue to jump back into the American Mideast playoff picture.
 
A Rashaad Stokelin jumper at the 13:04 mark of the first half began a 13-2 run on Friday against Wilberforce University and carried the Raiders into the lockeroom at the half with a 41-33 lead. Roberts began the second stanza quickly and after a Dan Foley steal and layup,b the Raiders were up 58-40. The lead grew to as many as 22 points before the final outcome of 84-69.
 
Alif Bland led the Raiders with 14 points. Rashaad Stokelin, Jake Russell, and Dan Foley each scored 11 points.  Patrick Downer chipped in 8 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Wilberforce's Darius Foster led all scorers with 28 points.
 
After losing to Mt. Vernon Nazarene in overtime last Saturday, the Raiders responded with a 69-64 victory at the Voller Athletic Center just one week later. Once again the Raiders were balanced with their scoring. Alif Bland and Jordan Heath both had double doubles each scoring 12 points with Bland pulling down 12 rebounds and Heath 11. Dan Foley had 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals. Rashaad Stokelin had 11 points and Will Kemp-Harris scored 9.
 
Mt Vernon had come into the game with a 12-10 record, 6-4 in the AMC. Aftr the victory, the Raiders evened their record to 11-11 and are now 5-6 in the AMC.
 
The Raiders next contest will be against the Houghton Highlanders on Tuesday night at 6:00 at Houghton.
