Women's Tennis Narrowly Falls at St. Thomas Aquinas

Roberts Wesleyan was edged 5-4 in a close match against the Spartans

SPARKILL, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan women's tennis suffered a narrow 5-4 setback at St. Thomas Aquinas this afternoon in East Coast Conference action.

The Redhawks took fourth, fifth, and sixth singles while Marine Kennel was edged by Nyenyeri Kanefu at second singles, 7-5, 5-7, 7-5. At first singles, Natalia Cardona also fell in a close match, losing to the Spartans' Bianca Signore 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).

In doubles action, Alyssa Brault and Emily Linhart took third double by dominating Raven DeLeon and Carolyn Kopf, 8-1. At second doubles, Camilly Linhart and Tiffany Hamdan fell to Shannon Biehle and Kanefu, 8-6.

The loss puts Roberts Wesleyan at 4-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference. The team returns home this Monday when they entertain Brockport at 4 p.m.
