Mogopodi's Win at No. 1 Singles Helps Women's Tennis Sweep Molloy

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's tennis team won their first East Coast Conference match of the season with a 9-0 win over Molloy on Saturday.
 
Freshman Laura Freeman clinched the match at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Samantha Bloecker. The North Chili native is now 3-1 in singles play on the season.
 
Junior Nthabi Mogopodi came away with the victory over Mon LeGoupil-Maier in a long No. 1 singles match. Mogopodi won the first set 7-6 with a 7-3 win in the tiebreaker. The Tlokweng, Botswana native then dropped the second set 2-6 before taking winning in the match tiebreaker 10-6.
 
In doubles play Mogopodi and Andrea Gallardo won at the No.1 spot 8-1 while Salome Darsalia and Marousia Bosch sealed the victory at No. 2 doubles, 8-2.
 
The Redhawks will compete at the Daemen Invitational Tournament starting on Friday, September 15 through Sunday, September 17.
