Tamas Nagy Tabbed ECC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Roberts Wesleyan University senior Tamas Nagy has been selected the East Coast Conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for men's soccer.

Nagy, a forward from Szar, Hungary, is coming off a season where he registered 43 points in 22 matches for the Redhawks.

The management and marketing major, who had scored just two goals in his first two seasons at Roberts, broke through by scoring 16 goals and 11 assists as Roberts (11-5-6) qualified for the ECC Tournament and also advanced to the finals of the National Christian College Athletic Association National Championship in Kissimmee, Fla. Nagy produced five multi-goal games, including a three-goal effort at Molloy in the ECC semifinals.

"This honor is a complete credit to him and his ability," Roberts head coach Scott Reber said. "He is a talented player and he has gotten better and better every year. I am excited to see what happens this season because I think that it is going to be his best one yet."

The Redhawks finished fourth among teams in the Preseason Poll that was announced this morning. Roberts collected 54 points in voting by ECC coaches.

Defending ECC Tournament Champion Mercy garnered six first-place votes and topped the poll with 76 points. Queens earned one first-place vote and ranked second with 69 points and Molloy collected two first-place votes and was tabbed third with 63 points. Daemen (40), University of the District of Columbia (34), Saint Thomas Aquinas College (32), College of Staten Island (28) and D'Youville (9) rounded out the poll. The top six finishers in the regular season will qualify for the ECC Championship.
