GENEVA, Ohio – Graduate student
Brynn King cleared a season-best height as Roberts Wesleyan University captured the top three spots in the women's elite pole vault at the SPIRE Midwest College Open on Saturday at the SPIRE Academy.
King, the defending NCAA Division II national champion, soared over the 4.52-meter bar (14-feet, 10-inches) to win the elite competition. King has the top five performances in NCAA Division II this season.
Sophomore
Sarah Ferguson placed second for the Redhawks (4.05m, 13-3½) and freshman
Karis Kraf took third (3.75m, 12-3 ½).
Other top performers for the Redhawks included:
- Freshman Thomas McConnelee, who placed second the weight throw (17.39m, 57' 3/4") and fifth (14.69m, 48-2½) in the shot put.
- Freshman Austin Melvin finished fifth (4.7m,15-5) in the men's pole vault followed by teammates Jack Sauder (4.55m, 14-11) and Braden Shaw (4.55m, 14-11) in seventh and eighth, respectively. Freshman Therron Percival was 10th (4.25m, 13-11 ¼).
- Sophomore Jadyn Mullen placed eighth in the women's 800-meter run (2:21.51) and 10th in the high jump (5-1).
