BOSTON, MA – Freshman Thomas McConnelee recorded two top-10 finishes in the throwing events Saturday to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Track and Field team at the John Thomas Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University.
McConnellee placed fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 17.81 meters (58' 5 ¼") and finished ninth overall in the Shot Put with a final distance of 14.91 meters (48' 11").
Several young runners recorded personal best times at the meet as sophomore Micah Barber clocked a personal best 2:41.90 in the 1000 meter run. Senior Jackson Doran was the highest Redhawk finisher in the Mile with a time of 4:13.22 while freshman Trevor Heitkamp had a personal best time of 4:25.14 and fellow freshman Juvenal Diaz-Cortes also had a personal best with his 4:33.84 time.
Senior Landon Schreib clocked a personal best by just over a quarter of a second with a time of 8:44.38 in the 3K race and freshman Charles Matzke finished the same race in 9:17.95.
Graduate student Owen White closed out the event with a time of 14:28.44 in the 5K.
Roberts will compete in the Brockport Multi and Invitational next weekend in final preparation for the ECC Indoor Track and Field Championships February 15 at the Ocean Breeze Complex on Staten Island.
