ROCHESTER, NY – Freshman Austin Melvin won the Pole Vault and classmate Thomas McConnelee won both the Discus and Hammer Throw events to lead the Roberts Wesleyan University Men's Track and Field team at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational Saturday at Edwin Fauver Stadium.
Melvin won as he cleared 4.77 meters (15' 7 ¾") and McConnelee had winning throws of 55.99 meters (183' 8") in the Discus and 61.13 meters (200' 6") in the Hammer.
Freshman Chase McFadden finished fifth in the Pole Vault with a height of 4.17 meters (13' 8 ¼").
Freshman Caleb Price was third in the 5K with a time of 15:54.55.
Junior Corden Zimmerman was fourth and graduate student Connor Beagle was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles and later junior Jordan Schlagenhauf took 6th and Beagle was 7th in the 400-meter hurdles for Roberts.
Freshman Owen Tarolli was fifth in the 3K Steeplechase (10:51.26) and Freshman Evariste Omebe was fifth in the Triple Jump with a distance of 12.90 meters (42' 4").
