COLONIA, NJ – Freshman thrower Ava Wierda and sophomore sprinter/pole vaulter Kennedy Benjamins were two of the top performers for the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Track and Field team last week at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational and each have been honored by the East Coast Conference (ECC) with selection to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Wierda had three top-10 finishes over the weekend at the Univ. of Rochester Alumni Invitational. She was fifth in the Hammer Throw with a mark of 41.66 meters (136' 8"), sixth in the Discus with a throw off 33.47 meters (109' 9") and ninth in the shot put with a heave of 9.85 meters (32' 3 ¼"). She is currently ranked in the top-7 in all three events in the ECC standings.

Benjamins took a break from pole vaulting this week and ran in the 100-meter dash event at the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational. In harsh weather conditions (wind, rain, snow, temp in the 30s), she won the event with a time of 12.50 seconds and finished nearly a half second over the second-place runner. 

The Redhawks are competing this weekend at the RIT Invitational and the Grand Valley State meet in Michigan.
