CALIFORNIA, Pa. (March 21, 2015) – Roberts Wesleyan had a successful season opening meet on Saturday with several athletes winning their events at the California (Pa.) Early Bird Invitational.
Distance runners
Rachel Hust and
Elizabeth Valento took first and second respectively in the 1,500m as Hust crossed the finish line with a time of 4:41.99 as Valento was right behind at 4:45.87. In the men's version,
Thomas Rodger led a quartet or Redhawks with a winning time of 4:00.40 as
Aaron Bellomo,
Keith Pease, and
Justin Bender followed across the finish line.
In the 100m,
Gabe Rivera placed fourth with a time of 11.04 while
Chelsea Hayward took third in the 200m with a time of 25.39.
In the field events,
Aaron McGinnis topped the field in the Long Jump with a leap of 6.82m as throwers
Kate Perry placed second in the Discus (34.94m) as
Hayden Jurius finished fourth in the Hammer Throw (42.41m).
The meet was not team scored.
Roberts Wesleyan is back in action next Saturday at Susquehanna's Jim Taylor Invitational in Selinsgrove, Pa.
