COLONIA, NJ – Freshman Mackenzie Truman has been a solid part of the defensive success of the Roberts Wesleyan University Women's Soccer team this season and she earned recognition this week as the East Coast Conference (ECC) Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week.
Joining her with weekly honors is junior Sam Cipolla who was selected as a member of the ECC Weekly Honor Roll.
The duo led Roberts to a 1-1 tie Friday afternoon against nationally-ranked Saint Michael's College.
Truman has started every game and played nearly every minute to help the Redhawks start the season with an impressive 3-0-3 record. She played a key defensive role in the weekend tie with nationally-ranked Saint Michael's College. She was one of two field players that played all 90 minutes of the game.
Cipolla notched another goal over the weekend to continue her streak of at least one point in each game this season and scored the lone Roberts goal in the 1-1 tie with Saint Michael's. She currently ranks first in points and second in goals in the conference standings.
The Redhawks will play Southern New Hampshire University Tuesday and start ECC play Saturday at Queens College.
