Merlin McGinnis was a talented multi-sport athlete and student during his time at Roberts. He was a stand-out basketball player and recipient of the Ken Curtis Award. McGinnis returned to coach in the mid-1980s, leading the first Women’s Cross Country team ever to NAIA Nationals in 1985. He was named District Coach of the Year in 1985 for Cross Country. McGinnis returned in 2008 to coach Track & Field and did so for 10 years. He is also the son of fellow Inductee Marge McGinnis and husband of fellow Inductee Angela McGinnis.
